"Less than 50 days and I will be in South Africa"
This is the thought that keeps working its way to the front of my conscience. I've never traveled out of the country without someone from my family (and Niagara Falls, Canada doesn't count) so I guess it's a little bit of an understatement to say that I'm nervous. I've been plenty places in my life, lived in Italy for three years, visited Germany, Guatemala, and been to most of the US. But there's just something about traveling to a place that you have never been before without anybody from your family coming along. I've been hard at work making lists, appointments, and starting my reading assignments for this trip, but it all seems surreal. I think my favorite thing about planning is when I get to check off things I've already done. It is surprisingly calming and satisfying.
Things done so far-
-applied for and received passport
-made doctors appointments
-started purchasing books for class
-started blog for trip
