This morning we headed off to Knysna! We decided to shorten our visit due to weather, so our trip down was leisurely and we stopped at this really cute restaurant/farmstand on the side of the road,The Blue Crane. Our food was delicious and the owner was one of the sweetest ladies we’ve met on this trip. I had the chance to get some more coffee in my system in the form of a cafe latte.

Our ride to Knysna was pretty easy-going. I wasn’t able to get too much sleep in the van but that was probably a good thing since I really needed to get the sleep at night. We stopped at a pharmacy store on our way to pick up cough drops and cold medicine and it was very interesting to see the set up and the different items that they sold there.
Our sleeping arrangements for the night seemed… different to what we have been getting used to. We stayed at a hotel for backpackers- cabins with multiple rooms with bunkbeds intended for many different people to stay in and mingle with others (we thankfully had our own cabin). It was very cold there compared to Cape Town and wet as well.

Side thought: It was interesting to see how out of our comfort zone we were when staying in the cabin while thinking about the people that we drove by who live in shacks that often leak without as many blankets and beds as we had. It was very humbling and put things more in perspective.
The owners of the backpacking lodge that we stayed at were very hospitable and often went to get more wood for our fire and brought us extra blankets for our beds. Right before we started ending down for the night, Tyler discovered a spider. No, scratch that, a MONSTROSITY of a spider. This thing was HUGE, the spread of it the size of Megan’s hand. And on top of that it took forever for Dr. Meekins to kill it. Don’t worry, there’s video footage of the whole thing.

After those fun events, we settled down and went to bed for the night, praying that no more spiders were lurking about.
